Leaving Garage Repair to the Experts

Leaving Garage Repair to the Experts

Garage doors seem like simple mechanisms, and the truth is, they are. But when your door breaks or something goes awry, it’s best to leave repairs to the experts. Here’s why.

First, garage doors are heavy, and the springs that move your door up and down are extremely strained and taut. Releasing these springs and the door without the help of an expert can result in serious injury or death. To avoid an accident and keep yourself safe, North Metro Garage’s experienced door technicians are here to help.

Second, tampering with a broken garage door or attempting to put a ‘band-aid’ fix on a broken door may only exasperate the problem at hand. As simple as the machinery is in concept, garage doors are a combination of pretty large and very tiny parts that work together to lift and close your door multiple times a day for years to come.

Last, garage doors are similar to important appliances, with respect to price. It’s important to protect your initial investment and make sure an expert takes a look at any broken components or problems with your garage door, as soon as they present themselves. Don’t allow a broken door to break down any further, as it can affect your home’s security, energy efficiency, and cosmetic appeal overall.

Scheduling regular maintenance checks for your garage door is a great way to avoid damage or failures over the life of your home’s garage door. North Metro Garage has been installing and repairing garage doors for over a decade, and has the skill and experience to spot a potential problem. Maintenance also saves you money over time by catching wear and tear before it leads to real damage.

Common issues with garage doors, especially in the Denver area, include general wear due to daily use and weather damage. Think of it this way; a garage door may open and close an average of three times per day throughout its lifetime. Most garage door springs are built to withstand between 10 and 15 years of movement, called cycles. The more you use your garage door, the faster it’s going to break down.

And with Colorado’s sub-zero winter temperatures and hot summer days, the temperature fluctuation can cause further damage to garage doors and their components. Whether it’s a warp in the material itself — which should not happen with steel doors, but can with other materials — or direct damage caused by a specific storm, North Metro Garage can diagnose, recommend the best course of action to fix the problem, and more often than not, fix it too. Our company offers repairs to multiple cities in the northern Denver Metro area and take service calls first come, first-served and by appointment.

I agree with this. The garage is a major part of the house that needs to be maintained. The pavement leading to it should also be smooth. We are now looking up some contractors for the pavement leading to our garage.

I want to make sure that I get my garage repaired properly. It makes sense that I would want to get a professional to handle it! That way I can ensure that it gets fixed properly.

I like that you mentioned the danger of the springs on your garage door. They are under immense pressure and anything done wrong can be really dangerous. My wife and I have been wanting a new door installed and can finally afford it. We will have to start looking for some professional help installing it.
